Online building energy certificates: demonstration system

The EPLabel project has a website which allows users to create a private area, enter data from their portfolio of buildings, and produce for each a demonstration version of an energy performance certificate. These will soon be required by the European Union's (EU) Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD), starting in certain public buildings (or tenancies) over 1000 square metres in floor area.

More details are available from Robert Cohen, EPLabel Co-ordinator.

EPLabel Online uses operational ratings based on real not predicted measures. It is for owners, occupiers and managers of public buildings. The software works with fifteen European countries/regions. It complies with the new standards set by the Comite Europeen de Normalisation (cen).

The project covers public administration offices, universities, schools, sports facilities, hospitals and hotels, but the principles can be applied in all types of nonresidential building. Full details are available from www.eplabel.org.
