About Building Use Studies

Building Use Studies is an independent consultancy, set up in 1981 in London. BUS examines how buildings work, notably from the viewpoints of building occupants.

BUS has carried out groundbreaking work in the UK and around the world in:

• occupant health
• perceived comfort, including control
• perceived productivity
• post-occupancy evaluation
• monitoring
• benchmarking
• feedback
• workplace evaluation
• briefing.

Many outputs from BUS (but not commissioned consultancy reports) are available via the website www.usablebuildings.co.uk which we support with others as a public service.

BUS survey methods are available under licence and are in use worldwide.

We believe in providing clear, factual information which is immediately useful to occupants, designers and managers of buildings.
